Today's economic downturn, and its impact on the economy, has in turn impacted somewhat upon that first consideration in choosing a life-long career. Of course, that first consideration must remains the basic choice of the individual, i.e., the love of the field, the work, the potential, as well as, personal incentives. But, just as technology has altered the pattern of many careers, and phased-out even more jobs, the individual must now contend with our "lagging economy" as a possible detriment to the long-term availability of certain positions and jobs within various careers.
At this point, I would like to bring attention to the question at the top of this page, "Do you mildly dislike your job/career, or do you hate it? Either way, yes, even mild dislike, gives the individual the legitimacy to re-examine his or her full career potentials. In doing so, one might find, not only a desirable new direction, but an exciting one.
